Essential Motorcycle Safety Tips for Indian Roads

CRUIZR Safety Team
Jun 15, 2026

Indian roads are notoriously unpredictable. From stray animals to sudden potholes, riding here requires intense focus and preparation. Here are our top safety tips.

1. ATGATT (All The Gear, All The Time)

Never compromise on gear. A minimum riding setup should include:

  • ECE/DOT Certified Full-Face Helmet
  • Armored riding jacket (CE Level 2)
  • Riding gloves with knuckle protection
  • Ankle-high boots

2. Defensive Riding

Assume you are invisible. Do not expect cars to check their blind spots. Always keep a two-second following distance and keep your fingers covering the front brake in city traffic.

3. Dealing with Potholes and Speed Breakers

Stand slightly on your pegs when approaching an unavoidable pothole. This allows your legs to absorb the shock, keeping the bike stable.

4. Stay Connected

If you are riding in a group, rely on intercoms or group-tracking apps like CRUIZR. Knowing where everyone is prevents riders from making reckless overtakes to "catch up."
